101 / A Case Of Mondays
The rain coursed down, beating against the glass windows of the glass room with a pitter-patter that echoed the lamentations of the students within. Rain meant staying inside for lunch hour and if there was anything that anyone ever learned about this school, it was that you stayed out of it as much as possible. Even Rae, who generally enjoyed the gloomy atmosphere the school seemed to ooze, was feeling rather irritated about the turn of weather. Not only had the rain and wind storms kept her sort-of-friend away from school today, but her favourite target was also absent. Courtney's soft, lamenting tones always cheered her up, especially as the girl wondered about how everything could have possibly have gone wrong in her life all at once. It made Rae chuckle, hearing her bemoan her fate like that.
At least Cathleen and her crew weren't being as obnoxious as usual - they were mostly keeping to themselves off in the corner. Granted, it might have been easier if they'd come to pick on Rae, because the dark-haired girl was certain that their teacher would be here any minute and then lo - their crew would be in trouble yet again for their bullying, but no, everything was quiet.
In other words, it was a regular, boring Monday morning and oh how Rae wished she had just slept in instead.
